Continuing on with the Frankenstein theme, we now turn your attention to a classic comedy horror film . . .

The comedic duo of Abbott and Costello collided in their first of several monster rally movies in 1948. Originally intended to be titled, THE BRAIN OF FRANKENSTEIN, it instead was released as ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN. It is widely regarded as the overall best (and probably the funniest) of the the comedy horror films.

In 2001, the US Library of Congress deemed A&C MEET FRANKENSTEIN as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant", and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Below is a set a lobby cards and an insert from the film, currently up for bid at auction.

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (Universal International, 1948). CGC Graded Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
In one of Universal's greatest moments of inspiration, the studio decided to bring together two of their most popular franchises; the Abbott and Costello series with the Monster series. Bud Abbott and Lou Costello are terrified and menaced by Frankenstein's Monster (Glenn Strange), Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney Jr.). This would be the last time that the actors would appear on the silver screen as their legendary monster alter-egos. This incredibly nice set of cards is being offered all together and overall, the set grades in Very Fine to Near Mint condition. Individually, CGC has graded these cards as follows; Title Card 8.0, Cards #3 and #8 in 8.5, Cards #2 and #6 in 9.0, Cards #4 and #7 in a stunning 9.2 and Card #5 with Lon Chaney as the Wolf Man in 9.4. Very Fine/Near Mint. Estimate: $7,000 - $12,000.

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (Realart, R-1956).Insert (14" X 36").
Thanks to creative, aggressive and colorful ad campaigns by Realart (after acquiring a chunk of the Universal catalogue for re-distribution), their re-releases often out performed new releases in the theatres! This fantastic insert is one of the best posters Realart created for the Universal series and in fact is as rare as the original release. It features all our favorite Universal monsters in their last big screen appearances including Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney and Glenn Strange. Other than light foxing in top border and creases in the right border, the piece is in excellent condition. Rolled, Very Fine-. Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
